La Consejera Presidenta del Instituto Estatal Electoral y de Participación Ciudadana (IEEPC), Beatriz Adriana Camacho Carrasco, llamó a lograr una participación incluyente sin discriminación, presentando desafíos para impulsar los liderazgos de las mujeres indígenas en la vida pública y electoral.
Al participar con una conferencia magistral en el Congreso Mujeres Indígenas: Ciudades y Ciudadanías, organizado por la Escuela de Derecho y Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM), este 21 de octubre; Camacho Carrasco subrayó que debe cambiarse la situación histórica de discriminación y desventaja que pasan las mujeres de comunidades originarias en la arena política.
“Me parece que uno de los peores enemigos de las mujeres indígenas es la ‘normalización’ de conductas discriminatorias en espacios de baja visibilidad y de menor exposición pública.
“En México existe una serie de costumbres partidistas paternales arraigadas desde la selección de candidaturas hasta el ejercicio de funciones públicas de candidatas mujeres, especialmente indígenas”, indicó en las instalaciones del Laboratorio Cultural Ciudadano.
La composición de espacios políticos con equilibrio de género, la vinculación de las mujeres indígenas a la política, el reconocimiento de una sociedad pluricultural y la capacitación para la formación política, fueron parte de los retos planteados por Camacho Carrasco.
“Las mujeres políticas en cargos deben mirar hacia las necesidades de mujeres indígenas”, recomendó.
Otro desafío, consideró, es la continua sensibilización de candidatos varones y sociedad en general sobre las implicaciones de los temas de género y raciales en los programas de gobierno y plataformas electorales.
Para concluir su intervención, Camacho Carrasco participó en un espacio de preguntas y respuestas con mujeres de asociaciones civiles de la comunidad indígena, y estudiantes de la UDEM, que presenciaron el evento, moderado por José Fredman Mendoza Ibarra, Coordinador general de dicho Congreso.
